THE THEMES

EXPRESS YOUR OPINION IN OUR POLL

CHESHAM PARK COMMUNITY COLLEGE, Chesham, Buckinghamshire
"Every Picture Tells a Story"

Our theme highlights the influence paparazzi and the media have on our world. The news and tabloids deliver doom and gloom. As a society we thrive on the misfortunes of others. Focus needs to be redirected to celebrate our successes. Our presentation takes a look at some positive scenarios focussing on achievements as we follow our very own photographer.

KINGS LANGLEY SCHOOL, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire
"Hero 2 Zero"

With so much media attention on celebrity size zeroes, are we doing enough to celebrate today's youth, and embrace our natural curves ? The pressure on young people to "fit in" to skinny jeans and be part of the rib culture is growing. We want to demonstrate the extreme dangers of playing with Mother Nature. Be heroes, not zeroes !

MARK RUTHERFORD UPPER SCHOOL, Bedford, Bedfordshire
"Stolen Angels"

"Stolen Angels" portrays how quickly and easily young people are snatched away from their families. Whether brutally attacked and taken or simply abducte, leaving no trace of where they are or what has happened to them. How does this leave their families and friends ? "Styolen Angels" also considers the impact these harsh events have on the peole leftbehind.

MONKS WALK SCHOOL, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
"Dante's Inferno"

This performance is a representation through physical theatre of Dante's epic poem "Inferno". We aim to show the audience Dante's disturbing journey through all the sinners in hell, lust, fury, gluttony and sloth. We see how he gains the trust of the sinnners as they help him escape.

NICHOLAS BREAKSPEAR CATHOLIC SCHOOL, St Albans, Hertfordshire
"Footprints"

It is the year 3000. All life on earth has been wiped out after the human race failed to act quickly enough. A robot is taken back in time to discover how peole let this happen. Isn't it time YOU started thinking about YOUR carbon footprint ?

How old are you ? Did you make it to school today ? These students were murdered at the hands of other teenagers in gun-related crimes. Three people are shot every day in England alone and 1 in 10 of them is a child. "Guns don't fall from the sky into the hands of criminals".

THE WYE VALLEY SCHOOL, Bourne End, Buckinghamshire
"Divided We Fall"

Our tale is of black versus white, like a game of chess, and forbidden lovers drawn together through fate. Entwined in a battle betwen two colours, can there be a happy ending for them both ? Maybe the death of two can bring hope and unity for everyone else.

VANDYKE UPPER SCHOOL, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire
"The Legend of Old Tom and the Mousehole Lights"

Every year, the villagers of Mousehole in Cornwall celebrate the legend of Old Tom, a fisherman who saved the community from starvation. He alone risked his life to brave a great storm in order to bring food to the desperate people of Mousehole.
